Full Arabic Text, Transliteration & English Translation of Surah Muhammad

Verse 1

Arabic:
ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo ‘an sabeeli Allahi adalla a’malahum

English Translation:
Those who disbelieve and hinder [others] from the way of Allah – He will waste their deeds. 

Verse 2

Arabic:
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَءَامَنُوا۟ بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Waallatheena amanoo wa’amiloo alssalihati waamanoo bima nuzzila ‘ala muhammadin wahuwa alhaqqu min rabbihim kaffara ‘anhum sayyiatihim waaslaha balahum

English Translation:
And those who believe and do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down upon Muhammad – and it is the truth from their Lord – He will remove from them their misdeeds and amend their condition. 

Verse 3

Arabic:
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلْبَٰطِلَ وَأَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلْحَقَّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضْرِبُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Thalika bi-anna allatheena kafaroo ittaba’oo albatila wa-anna allatheena amanoo ittaba’oo alhaqqa min rabbihim kathalika yadribu Allahu lilnnasi amthalahum

English Translation:
That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, and those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does Allah present to the people their comparisons. 

Verse 4

Arabic:
فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَضَرْبَ ٱلرِّقَابِ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَثْخَنتُمُوهُمْ فَشُدُّوا۟ ٱلْوَثَاقَ فَإِمَّا مَنًّۢا بَعْدُ وَإِمَّا فِدَآءً حَتَّىٰ تَضَعَ ٱلْحَرْبُ أَوْزَارَهَا ذَٰلِكَ وَلَوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ لَٱنتَصَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَا۟ بَعْضَكُم بِبَعْضٍ وَٱلَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَلَن يُضِلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Fa-itha laqeetumu allatheena kafaroo fadarba alrriqabi hatta itha athkhantumoohum fashuddoo alwathaqa fa-imma mannan ba’du wa-imma fida’an hatta tada’a alharbu awzaraha thalika walaw yashao Allahu laintasara minhum walakin liyabluwa ba’dakum biba’din waallatheena qutiloo fee sabeeli Allahi falan yudilla a’malahum

English Translation:
So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure their bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allah – never will He waste their deeds. 

Verse 5

Arabic:
سَيَهْدِيهِمْ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Sayahdeehim wayuslihu balahum

English Translation:
He will guide them and amend their condition. 

Verse 6

Arabic:
وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ عَرَّفَهَا لَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Wayudkhiluhumu aljannata ‘arrafaha lahum

English Translation:
And admit them to Paradise, which He has made known to them. 

Verse 7

Arabic:
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِن تَنصُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ يَنصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ

Transliteration:
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo in tansuroo Allaha yansurkum wayuthabbit aqdamakum

English Translation:
O you who have believed, if you support [the cause of] Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet. 

Verse 8

Arabic:
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَتَعْسًا لَّهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Waallatheena kafaroo fata’san lahum waadalla a’malahum

English Translation:
But those who disbelieve – for them is misery, and He will waste their deeds. 

Verse 9

Arabic:
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُوا۟ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Thalika bi-annahum karihoo ma anzala Allahu faahbata a’malahum

English Translation:
That is because they disliked what Allah revealed, so He rendered worthless their deeds. 

Verse 10

Arabic:
۞ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ دَمَّرَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَمْثَٰلُهَا

Transliteration:
Afalam yaseeroo fee al-ardi fayanthuroo kayfa kana ‘aqibatu allatheena min qablihim dammara Allahu ‘alayhim walilkafireena amthaluha

English Translation:
Have they not traveled through the land and seen how was the end of those before them? Allah destroyed [everything] over them, and for the disbelievers is something comparable. 

Verse 11

Arabic:
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَوْلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَأَنَّ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَا مَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Thalika bi-anna Allaha mawla allatheena amanoo wa-anna alkafireena la mawla lahum

English Translation:
That is because Allah is the protector of those who have believed and because the disbelievers have no protector. 

Verse 12

Arabic:
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَتَمَتَّعُونَ وَيَأْكُلُونَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ وَٱلنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَّهُمْ

Transliteration:
Inna Allaha yudkhilu allatheena amanoo wa’amiloo alssalihati jannatin tajri min tahtiha al-anharu waallatheena kafaroo yatamatta’oona waya-kuloona kama ta-kulu al-an’amru waalnnaru mathwan lahum

English Translation:
Indeed, Allah will admit those who have believed and done righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow, but those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as grazing livestock eat, and the Fire will be a residence for them. 

Verse 13

Arabic:
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ هِىَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةً مِّن قَرْيَتِكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Wakaayyin min qaryatin hiya ashaddu quwwatan min qaryatika allati akhrajatka ahlaknahum fala nasira lahum

English Translation:
And how many a city was stronger than your city [Makkah] which drove you out? We destroyed them; and there was no helper for them. 

Verse 14

Arabic:
أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ كَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُۥ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُم

Transliteration:
Afaman kana ‘ala bayyinatin min rabbihi kaman zuyyina lahu soo’u ‘amalihi waittaba’oo ahwaahum

English Translation:
So is he who is on clear evidence from his Lord like him to whom the evil of his work has been made attractive and they follow their [own] desires? 

Verse 15

Arabic:
مَّثَلُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ٱلَّتِى وُعِدَ ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ فِيهَآ أَنْهَٰرٌ مِّن مَّآءٍ غَيْرِ ءَاسِنٍ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّن لَّبَنٍ لَّمْ يَتَغَيَّرْ طَعْمُهُۥ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّنْ خَمْرٍ لَّذَّةٍ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ وَأَنْهَٰرٌ مِّنْ عَسَلٍ مُّصَفًّى وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ كَمَنْ هُوَ خَٰلِدٌ فِى ٱلنَّارِ وَسُقُوا۟ مَآءً حَمِيمًا فَقَطَّعَ أَمْعَآءَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Mathalu aljannati allati wu’ida almuttaqoona feeha anharun min ma-in ghayri asinin wa-anharun min labanin lam yataghayyar ta’muhu wa-anharun min khamrin laththatin lilshsharibeena wa-anharun min ‘asalin musaffan walahum feeha min kulli alththamarati wamaghfiratun min rabbihim kaman huwa khalidun fee alnnari wasuqoo ma-an hameeman faqatta’a am’aahum

English Translation:
Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey, in which they will have from all [kinds of] fruits and forgiveness from their Lord, like [that of] those who abide eternally in the Fire and are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines? 

Verse 16

Arabic:
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا خَرَجُوا۟ مِنْ عِندِكَ قَالُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ مَاذَا قَالَ ءَانِفًا أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Waminhum man yastami’u ilayka hatta itha kharajoo min ‘indika qaloo lillatheena ootoo al’ilma matha qala anifan ola-ika allatheena taba’a Allahu ‘ala quloobihim waittaba’oo ahwaahum

English Translation:
And among them, [O Muhammad], are those who listen to you, until when they depart from you, they say to those who were given knowledge, “What has he said just now?” Those are the ones of whom Allah has sealed over their hearts and who have followed their [own] desires. 

Verse 17

Arabic:
وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱهْتَدَوْا۟ زَادَهُمْ هُدًى وَءَاتَىٰهُمْ تَقْوَىٰهُمْ

Transliteration:
Waallatheena ihtadaw zadahum hudan waatahum taqwahum

English Translation:
And those who are guided – He increases them in guidance and gives them their righteousness. 

Verse 18

Arabic:
فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً فَقَدْ جَآءَ أَشْرَاطُهَا فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ

Transliteration:
Fahal yanzuroona illa alssa’ata an ta’tiyahum baghtatan faqad jaa ashraTuha fa-anna lahum itha jaat-hum dhikrahum

English Translation:
Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly? But already there have come [some of] its indications. Then what good to them, when it has come, will be their remembrance? 

Verse 19

Arabic:
فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ وَمَثْوَىٰكُمْ

Transliteration:
Fa’lam annahu la ilaha illa Allahu waistaghfir lidhanbika walilmu’mineena walmu’minati waAllahu ya’lamu mutaqallabakum wamathwakum

English Translation:
So know, [O Muhammad], that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows of your movement and your resting place. 

Verse 20

Arabic:
وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَإِذَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ مُّحْكَمَةٌ وَذُكِرَ فِيهَا ٱلْقِتَالُ رَأَيْتَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ نَظَرَ ٱلْمَغْشِىِّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ فَأَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Wayaqoolu allatheena amanoo lawla nuzzilat sooratun fa-itha onzilat sooratun muhkamatun wadhukira feeha alqitalu raayta allatheena fee quloobihim maradun yanzuroona ilayka nazara almaghshiyyi ‘alayhi mina almawti fa-awla lahum

English Translation:
And those who believe say, “Why has a surah not been sent down?” But when a precise surah is revealed and fighting is mentioned therein, you see those in whose hearts is disease looking at you with the look of one overcome by death. But more appropriate for them [would be]. 

Verse 21

Arabic:
طَاعَةٌ وَقَوْلٌ مَّعْرُوفٌ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ ٱلْأَمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ

Transliteration:
Ta’atun waqawlun ma’roofun fa-itha ‘azama al-amru falaw sadaqoo Allaha lakana khayran lahum

English Translation:
Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] is determined, if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them. 

Verse 22

Arabic:
فَهَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ إِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ أَن تُفْسِدُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَتُقَطِّعُوٓا۟ أَرْحَامَكُمْ

Transliteration:
Fahal ‘asaytum in tawallaytum an tufsidoo fee al-ardi watuqatti’oo arhamakum

English Translation:
So would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your [ties of] relationship? 

Verse 23

Arabic:
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فَأَصَمَّهُمْ وَأَعْمَىٰٓ أَبْصَٰرَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Ola-ika allatheena la’anahumu Allahu faasammahum waa’ma absarahum

English Translation:
Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed, so He deafened them and blinded their vision. 

Verse 24

Arabic:
أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَآ

Transliteration:
Afala yatadabbaroona alqurana am ‘ala quloobin aqfaluha

English Translation:
Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts? 

Verse 25

Arabic:
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱرْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَٰرِهِم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَى ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْ وَأَمْلَىٰ لَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Inna allatheena irtaddoo ‘ala adbarihim min ba’di ma tabayyana lahumu alhuda alshshaytanu sawwala lahum waamla lahum

English Translation:
Indeed, those who reverted back [to disbelief] after guidance had become clear to them – Satan enticed them and prolonged hope for them. 

Verse 26

Arabic:
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ كَرِهُوا۟ مَا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ سَنُطِيعُكُمْ فِى بَعْضِ ٱلْأَمْرِ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِسْرَارَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Thalika bi-annahum qaloo lillatheena karihoo ma nazzala Allahu sanutee’ukum fee ba’di al-amri waAllahu ya’lamu israrahum

English Translation:
That is because they said to those who disliked what Allah sent down, “We will obey you in part of the matter.” And Allah knows what they conceal. 

Verse 27

Arabic:
فَكَيْفَ إِذَا تَوَفَّتْهُمُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَٰرَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Fakayfa itha tawaffathumu almala-ikatu yadriboona wujoohahum waadbarahum

English Translation:
Then how [will it be] when the angels take them in death, striking their faces and their backs? 

Verse 28

Arabic:
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَآ أَسْخَطَ ٱللَّهَ وَكَرِهُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Thalika bi-annahumu ittaba’oo ma askhata Allaha wakarihoo ridwanahu faahbata a’malahum

English Translation:
That is because they followed what angered Allah and disliked [what brought] His pleasure, so He rendered worthless their deeds. 

Verse 29

Arabic:
أَمْ حَسِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ أَن لَّن يُخْرِجَ ٱللَّهُ أَضْغَٰنَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Am hasiba allatheena fee quloobihim maradun an lan yukhrija Allahu adghanahum

English Translation:
Or do those in whose hearts is disease think that Allah would never expose their [secret] hatreds? 

Verse 30

Arabic:
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَأَرَيْنَٰكَهُمْ فَلَعَرَفْتَهُم بِسِيمَٰهُمْ وَلَتَعْرِفَنَّهُمْ فِى لَحْنِ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ

Transliteration:
Walaw nashao la-araynakahum fala’araftahum biseemahum walata’rifannahum fee lahni alqawli waAllahu ya’lamu a’malakum

English Translation:
And if We willed, We could show them to you, and you would know them by their marks; but you will surely know them by the tone of [their] speech. And Allah knows your deeds. 

Verse 31

Arabic:
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَعْلَمَ ٱلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ مِنكُمْ وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَنَبْلُوَا۟ أَخْبَارَكُمْ

Transliteration:
Walanabluwannakum hatta na’lama almujahideena minkum waalssabireena wanabluwa akhbarakum

English Translation:
And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allah] and the patient, and We will test your affairs. 

Verse 32

Arabic:
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَشَآقُّوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًٔا وَسَيُحْبِطُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Inna allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo ‘an sabeeli Allahi washaqqoo alrrasoola min ba’di ma tabayyana lahumu alhuda lan yadurroo Allaha shay-an wasayuhbitu a’malahum

English Translation:
Indeed, those who disbelieve and hinder from the way of Allah and oppose the Messenger after guidance has become clear to them – never will they harm Allah at all, and He will render worthless their deeds. 

Verse 33

Arabic:
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ وَلَا تُبْطِلُوٓا۟ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ

Transliteration:
Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo atee’oo Allaha waatee’oo alrrasoola wala tubtiloo a’malakum

English Translation:
O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds. 

Verse 34

Arabic:
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ مَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ فَلَن يَغْفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ

Transliteration:
Inna allatheena kafaroo wasaddoo ‘an sabeeli Allahi thumma matoo wahum kuffarun falan yaghfira Allahu lahum

English Translation:
Indeed, those who disbelieve and hinder from the way of Allah and then die while they are disbelievers – never will Allah forgive them. 

Verse 35

Arabic:
فَلَا تَهِنُوا۟ وَتَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلسَّلْمِ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ وَٱللَّهُ مَعَكُمْ وَلَن يَتِرَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ

Transliteration:
Fala tahinoo watad’oo ila alssalmi waantumu al-a’lawna waAllahu ma’akum walan yatirakum a’malakum

English Translation:
So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior; and Allah is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds. 

Verse 36

Arabic:
إِنَّمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَإِن تُؤْمِنُوا۟ وَتَتَّقُوا۟ يُؤْتِكُمْ أُجُورَكُمْ وَلَا يَسْـَٔلْكُمْ أَمْوَٰلَكُمْ

Transliteration:
Innama alhayatu alddunya la’ibun walahwun wa-in tu’minoo watattaqoo yu’tikum ojurakum wala yas-alakum amwalakum

English Translation:
[This] worldly life is only amusement and diversion. And if you believe and fear Allah, He will give you your rewards and not ask you for your properties. 

Verse 37

Arabic:
إِن يَسْـَٔلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ تَبْخَلُوا۟ وَيُخْرِجْ أَضْغَٰنَكُمْ

Transliteration:
In yas-alkumooha fayuhfikum tabkhaloo wayukhrij adghanakum

English Translation:
If He should ask you for them and press you, you would withhold, and He would expose your [secret] hatreds. 

Verse 38

Arabic:
هَٰٓأَنتُمْ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنفِقُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَمِنكُم مَّن يَبْخَلُ وَمَن يَبْخَلْ فَإِنَّمَا يَبْخَلُ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَٱللَّهُ ٱلْغَنِىُّ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلْفُقَرَآءُ وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوٓا۟ أَمْثَٰلَكُم

Transliteration:
Ha-antum haola-i tud’awna litunfiqoo fee sabeeli Allahi faminkum man yabkhalu waman yabkhal fa-innama yabkhalu ‘an nafsihi waAllahu alghaniyyu waantumu alfuqarao wa-in tatawallaw yastabdil qawman ghayrakum thumma la yakoonoo amthalakum

English Translation:
Here you are – those invited to spend in the cause of Allah – but among you are those who withhold [out of greed]. And whoever withholds only withholds [benefit] from himself. And Allah is the Self-Sufficient, while you are the needy. And if you turn away, He will replace you with another people; then they will not be the likes of you. 

English Tafseer (Exegesis) of Surah Muhammad

Surah Muhammad, also known as Surah al-Qital (The Fighting), is a Medinan chapter that lays out a clear framework for the Muslim community’s engagement with its opponents. It opens by drawing a stark contrast between those who reject faith and obstruct the path of God, whose deeds are rendered fruitless, and those who believe, whose sins are expiated and hearts are set right . Unlike other scriptures, it presents a direct challenge: if the disbelievers were to face death, they would be shown their ultimate place in Hell, while the believers are promised Paradise with its flowing rivers.
