Verse 1-2
Transliteration: Was-samā’i waṭ-ṭāriq. Wa mā adrāka maṭ-ṭāriq.
English Translation: By the sky and the night visitor. And what can make you know what the night visitor is?
Tafseer & Lesson: Allah swears by the sky and the “Tariq” — a bright star that pierces the darkness of the night. This oath shows the greatness of Allah’s creation and draws our attention to the signs in the universe.
Verse 3-4
Transliteration: An-najmuth-thāqib. In kullu nafsin lammā ‘alayhā ḥāfiẓ.
English Translation: It is the piercing star. There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.
Tafseer & Lesson: Every human being has angels guarding and recording their deeds. Nothing we do is hidden from Allah.
Verse 5-7
Transliteration: Falyanẓuril-insānu mimma khuliq. Khuliqa mim mā’in dāfiq. Yakhruju mim bayniṣ-ṣulbi wat-tarā’ib.
English Translation: So let man observe from what he was created. He was created from a gushing fluid emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.
Tafseer & Lesson: A powerful reminder of human origin — from a drop of fluid. This encourages humility and gratitude.
Verse 8-10
Transliteration: Innahu ‘alā raj’ihi laqādir. Yawma tublas-sarā’ir. Famā lahu min quwwatin wa lā nāṣir.
English Translation: Indeed, He is Able to return him [to life]. On the Day when secrets will be made known. Then man will have no power or any helper.
Tafseer & Lesson: A strong warning about the Day of Judgment when all hidden deeds will be revealed. No one will be able to help another.
Verse 11-14
Transliteration: Was-samā’i dhātir-raj‘. Wal-arḍi dhātiṣ-ṣad‘. Innahu laqawlun faṣl. Wa mā huwa bil-hazl.

Verse 15-17 (Final Verses)
Transliteration: Innahum yakīdūna kaydā. Wa akīdu kaydā. Famahhilil-kāfirīna amhilhum ruwaydā.
English Translation: Indeed, they are planning a plan, and I am planning a plan. So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them a little while.
