Surah Al Mudassir

Surah Al-Muddathir begins with Allah directly addressing the Prophet ﷺ:
“O you who covers himself [with a cloak], arise and warn!” (74:1–2)
This marks the official start of the Prophetic mission, commanding the Prophet to preach, purify, and detach from worldly gain.
The Surah also warns the disbelievers, especially figures like Walid ibn al-Mughirah, of the consequences of arrogance and denial.
The later verses describe Hellfire (Saqar) and the characteristics of those who will enter it—those who ignored prayer, neglected the poor, and denied the truth.
