Surah Al-Baqarah
Surah Al-Baqarah (سورة البقرة), meaning “The Cow,” is the second chapter of the Holy Quran. It was revealed in Madinah and is recognized as the longest Surah in the Quran, encompassing vital laws, guidance for humanity, and powerful spiritual messages. Meaning and Importance of Surah Al-Baqrah
Surah Al-Baqarah offers a comprehensive blueprint for a righteous life. It addresses a broad range of topics, including the oneness of Allah, guidance for Muslim character and conduct, and laws on fasting, charity (zakat), trade, marriage, justice, and inheritance. It uses examples from previous nations—especially the Children of Israel—to warn and guide the Muslim ummah.
One of its most famous verses is Ayat al-Kursi (Verse 255), a verse of immense spiritual significance and divine protection. The Surah also includes the longest verse in the Quran (Verse 282), which teaches the ethics of financial transactions and record-keeping.
